Duolingo for Schools allows teachers to create two distinct types of assignments: Skills and XP. XP assignments are often preferred by teachers for their individualized nature. Rather than assigning the same Skill to everyone, you can assign a certain amount of effort you’d like your students to put in.
With XP assignments, teachers give each student a specific amount of points that they need to earn by a certain date. Students can earn XP through just about any activity in Duolingo! Their point accrual begins after the assignment has been created and ends on the due date. This allows all students to work toward a shared outcome at their “just right” level.
