How do I deactivate my Duolingo for Schools account?

We’d hate to see you go! Even if you have decided to stop using Duolingo in your classroom, you can keep your Schools account open.

Removing your Duolingo for Schools access

If you delete all of your classrooms in Duolingo for Schools, you will no longer have access to Duolingo for Schools using that account. However, you can always get started again in the future.

To delete your classrooms from your Duolingo for Schools dashboard, simply go to a specific classroom's settings tab and select "Delete Classroom."

Deactivating your Duolingo account

Because Duolingo for Schools is part of your Duolingo account, if you would like to delete your Duolingo for Schools account, you must delete the entire Duolingo account that it is linked to. This means that if you made your Duolingo for Schools account using your personal Duolingo account, it will be lost. 

If you want to keep your Duolingo account active but not participate in Duolingo for Schools, delete all of your classrooms (if you are a teacher), as shown above, and/or leave all of the classrooms you are part of as a student. 

If you would like to delete your Duolingo account, please visit this page and select "Erase Personal Data" (the big red button at the bottom of that page). You can also submit a deletion request via the Duolingo for iOS app. Open the app, visit the Profile tab, and then tap on the Settings icon. Then, scroll to the bottom of the page and select, 'Delete Account'.
